Delivering Encouragement with Every Meal.

At 65 years old, Antonio Stewart has learned that no one gets through life alone.

Growing up on Long Island, New York, Antonio watched his mother work two jobs to support their family. Like many young people, he faced challenges, and he admits he sometimes found himself headed in the wrong direction. What made the difference, he says, was having people around him who never stopped believing in his potential.

“My family members knew that I could be much more,"  Antonio shares. “They kept at me about being a better person… and they were willing to be there for me when I was ready.”

A willingness to accept support is what has allowed Antonio to build meaningful relationships through Meals on Wheels Central Texas. While nutritious meals are an important part of the program, the connections Antonio has formed with volunteers have been just as impactful.

"The Meals on Wheels program has been a blessing to me in many ways," Antonio says. “Not only as far as the food is concerned, but I have met so many good people.”

Each delivery brings More Than a Meal. Volunteers stop to chat, exchange stories, and offer words of encouragement. Those conversations have helped Antonio feel connected to the community around him. For Antonio, the friendships built through Meals on Wheels Central Texas have become an important source of support. He appreciates the opportunities to learn about the lives of the volunteers who visit him and values the genuine relationships that have grown from those interactions.

Stories like Antonio’s demonstrate how Home Delivered Meals extend far beyond nutrition. Every visit provides connection, encouragement, and the reassurance that someone cares.
