Meals Delivered Daily
From One Act of Kindness to a Lifeline for Thousands
Founded in 1972 by eight volunteers in East Austin, Meals on Wheels Central Texas began by preparing and delivering meals to just 29 neighbors three days a week. As community support grew, so did our impact. Grants, expanded services, and dedicated volunteers allowed us to reach more neighbors across Central Texas, growing from a single meal program into a trusted nonprofit serving thousands.
Today, Meals on Wheels Central Texas provides home-delivered meals, safety checks, and life-enriching services to more than 5,000 older adults and people living with disabilities across six Central Texas counties. With the support of more than 4,000 volunteers, we deliver over 3,000 meals each weekday—helping our neighbors remain healthy, connected, and independent.
For more than 50 years, our mission has remained the same: empowering our neighbors with dignity, independence, and the care they need to thrive.

FOOD IS MEDICINE
Nutrition That Heals.
Care That Goes Beyond.
Nutritious meals do far more than satisfy hunger.
Research shows proper nutrition helps older adults maintain their health, recover from illness, reduce hospitalizations and remain independent longer.
Every meal we deliver is also a wellness check and a reminder that someone cares.
