For nearly two decades, TMF Health Quality Institute has been a dedicated partner of Meals on Wheels Central Texas, supporting older adults through volunteering, sponsorships, and financial contributions. Most recently, TMF reinforced its commitment to the Central Texas community with a $25,000 donation to the Home Delivered Meals program and sponsorship of NeighborNav, our volunteer delivery app.
“TMF Health Quality Institute is helping us reimagine what’s possible for older adults in Central Texas,” said Henry Van de Putte, CEO of Meals on Wheels Central Texas. “Their support means we can invest in innovative solutions like NeighborNav, which makes meal delivery more efficient and ensures neighbors receive the service they count on every day.”
When TMF began looking for a primary charitable partner, Meals on Wheels Central Texas stood out as a natural fit.
“We were looking for something that really aligned with our mission as a company,” said Emilie Fennell, Director of Communications and External Relations for TMF. “Meals on Wheels Central Texas directly aligns with supporting that population. Nutrition is a key factor in the health of that population and helping to reduce hospital readmissions and improve outcomes.”
TMF employees began volunteering with a single delivery route that eventually expanded into two weekly routes, which the organization has been delivering for over fifteen years. Through volunteering, TMF employees have witnessed firsthand the impact Meals on Wheels Central Texas has on older adults throughout the region.
“Meals on Wheels Central Texas does such a good job of trying to serve the greater community in a variety of ways,” Emilie noted. “Not only with meals, but through other services that help older adults remain independent. It’s such a well-organized group with such a clear mission.”
As longtime volunteers, TMF was particularly excited to support NeighborNav. Over the years, TMF volunteers have seen meal delivery evolve from paper maps to more efficient digital tools that help volunteers navigate deliveries and serve neighbors more effectively.
“When you're delivering meals and wellness checks to older adults, we know every minute matters,” said Jake Peters, COO of Meals on Wheels Central Texas. “TMF’s sponsorship of NeighborNav allows us to create a better experience for the volunteers who power our mission while giving us new opportunities to reimagine how we serve neighbors.”
At the same time, TMF’s contribution to the Home Delivered Meals program helps ensure older adults continue receiving the nutritious meals they depend on.
“The future of our services depends on strong community partnerships,” Henry commented. “By investing in our work, TMF is supporting our ability not only to meet today’s needs but also to build the systems and technology that will help us serve more neighbors in the years ahead.”
For TMF, supporting Meals on Wheels Central Texas is a way to invest in the community where employees live and work. As Emilie says, “The better supported the community is, the better it is for everyone. It supports our employees, allows them to engage, and helps make it a positive place to work and live.”
While national organizations play an important role, local partnerships create a unique opportunity to see the impact at the ground level.
“You really get that personal connection,” Emilie shared. “You can see it in your community and say, ‘We helped with that. We were part of that.’”
